A Little Piece of Spain — Two Iconic Stories in Miniature
Beautiful Pair of Toledo-Style Damascene Miniature Footed Plates — Don Quixote & Spanish Flamenco Dancers — Possibly 24K Gold Inlay
Discover the timeless charm of traditional Spanish decorative metalwork with this beautiful set of two miniature black-and-gold footed plates, featuring two of Spain’s most beloved cultural and artistic subjects.
Despite their petite size, these decorative dishes display remarkably intricate details, elegant metallic contrasts, and captivating scenes inspired by Spanish history, literature, and traditional dance.
Plate 1 — Spanish Flamenco Dancers
This lovely miniature depicts a Spanish couple performing a traditional flamenco-style dance.
The female dancer wears an elaborate, multi-layered ruffled dress, while her partner strikes a dramatic pose. Delicate architectural details, decorative archways, a traditional wall lantern, and tiny flowerpots complete this charming Spanish scene.
The exceptionally fine decorative lines bring movement and character to the design.
Plate 2 — Don Quixote & Sancho Panza
The companion dish illustrates a famous scene inspired by Miguel de Cervantes’ literary masterpiece, Don Quixote.
Don Quixote appears riding his horse with a lance, accompanied by his faithful companion Sancho Panza and his donkey.
Two classic Spanish windmills rise in the background, completing this instantly recognizable literary scene.
The detailed figures, landscape, windmills, and finely rendered animals make this piece especially appealing to collectors of Don Quixote memorabilia and Spanish literary art.
Traditional Toledo Damascene Style — Possibly 24K Gold Inlay
These miniature plates exhibit the distinctive black background, intricate metallic detailing, and traditional decorative appearance associated with Spanish Toledo Damascene metalwork.
Traditional Toledo damascene artisans have historically used genuine gold, including 24K gold, to create intricate inlaid patterns on darkened metal surfaces.
Based on their appearance and similarity to traditional Spanish Toledo damascene pieces, these plates may also feature 24K gold decorative inlay.
However, the gold content has not been tested or independently verified, and the exact composition of the metallic decoration remains unknown.
The pieces are therefore offered as Toledo Damascene-style decorative metalwork, without a guarantee of precious-metal content.
Their elegant combination of deep black surfaces, gold-colored figures, finely detailed patterns, and polished silver-tone rims makes them visually striking miniature collectibles.
