Beautiful vintage Elgin American powder compact dating to approximately the 1930s–1940s, presented in the company’s distinctive fan, spearhead or shield shape.
The sterling silver case has a softly brushed finish decorated with an elegant engraved floral bouquet, dimensional mixed-tone flower accents and a dark central cartouche monogrammed “C.H.C.” The compact opens to reveal a fitted mirror, hinged powder compartment and its original Elgin American powder puff.
Marked “STERLING” and “Elgin American – Made in U.S.A.” inside.
This unusually complete example includes:
• Original burgundy Elgin American presentation box
• Original purple Elgin American protective dust pouch
• Original Elgin American powder puff
CONDITION:
The compact is in excellent vintage condition and has been exceptionally well preserved. The exterior presents beautifully, with only minimal age-related handling wear. Hinges and closures appear intact and functional.
The mirror displays age-related haze, spotting and surface cloudiness visible under bright light. Light dust or vintage cosmetic residue may remain inside. The presentation box shows some exterior storage wear, while the branded pouch remains especially attractive.
The vintage powder puff is included for completeness and display and is not recommended for modern cosmetic use.
